During the month of April, the Interfratenity Council has pledged to support Sexual Assault Awareness Month by raising money for Indiana University's Raising Awareness of Interactions in Sexual Encounters (R.A.I.S.E.) Organization and Monroe County's Middle Way House. These organizations are responsible for the support and education for sexual assault to Indiana University. The services of these organizations are far under recognized and the men of IFC plan to support the groups that have provided such service within our community.
Along with support, IFC would like to educate not only within our own organizations but also on campus. You will see banners up on chapters that have also pledged their support along with those that will be working stations on campus. The banners will aim to educate on how to prevent sexual assault by cohesively listing a large number of the 101 Ways You Can Prevent Sexual Assault. A full list can be found HERE.
In addition to providing information on prevention, members of chapters within IFC will be taking donations for Middle Way House and passing out print materials provided by R.A.I.S.E. The materials provide information on not only the services, but the support available to victims. We welcome you to stop by a station on campus on April 16th, at either 10th & Fee or Ballantine between 11 am and 5 pm to get a Teal Awareness Ribbon to show your support! For more information about R.A.I.S.E, please visit their website at healthcenter.indiana.edu/raise.html.
